Koboru is a 2.5D game project done in between late 2018 and early 2019, consisting of a team of 6 members. The game revolves around two playable Nomad characters challenging different Gods to obtain power. The Gods include Sobek, C'thulu & Kane, deriving from mythology and stories from around the world, Each boss features their own gimmick & movesets and it will be the player's duty to overcome these obstacles.
We took inspiration from great pixel art games such as Hyper Light Drifter and Tian Souls, to conceptualize our gameplay, characters and mechanics.
My role in this project was to create the art assets, both 2D and 3D. The main challenge I faced was to match the texture density between the 3D texture to the 2D character and environment assets in the game. It was a lot of going back and forth between the game and my art to check and match each asset.
It was also my first experience with UX/UI designs which I rarely do, but was a great opportunity for me to step into.
While the game was completed and submitted 2 years ago, I believe I have much to learn from this experience and I hope I will continue to improve on my skills!
